Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sustainable Urban Agriculture?
Sustainable Urban Agriculture is a network-farming methodology by which micro-agricultural business operations may be sown and grown within an urban or near-urban environment. Its practice allows small-and-micro-footprint alternative agricultural operations to become existant, remain viable, and grow more deeply interconnected within localized food-sourcing networks. It is also a means for merging sustainable farming practices with local ecological stewardship, in that it seeks to restore soil tilth and organism balance, maximizes topsoil retention through intercropping, cover-cropping, and poly-canopy cropping, and provides stormwater redemption through the development of deep perennial root networks. Sustainable Urban Agriculture seeks to revitalize local indigenous pollinator populations and allow deep indigenous pollination of food crops, while providing the neccessary indigenous forages required to sustain such pollinator populations with stability.
Sustainable Urban Agriculture is a system whereby small-plot agriculturists may reliably produce high-value products on modern smallholdings and confidently bring them into the local food economy, to permanently enhance the quality of the local food chain for growers and local consumers statewide.
